Overwatch Gains Deathmatch Mode
To those of you who like to run and gun, as opposed to working in groups, it seems like Overwatch has added a mode just for you. A classic staple to any first person shooter diet has been Deathmatch mode, and now its landed in Overwatch.
Despite Kaplan’s initial hesitance in introducing the game mode to Overwatch, as he didn’t think it would be “right for the game”, it seems he has changed his mind. The game mode is now available on all systems and involves two version of the game – Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch. Whereas Deathmatch is limited to eight players, Team Deathmatch keeps the normal composition of play – the difference being that your only goal is to kill.
To those who aren’t familiar with it, Deathmatch is a free for all in which players try and tally up as many kills as possible. In this mode, the first to 20 kills will be crowned the victor. It’s also important to note that you can lose points due to environmental deaths or self inflicted deaths. In Team Death Match another facet has been added as well. It seems Mercy’s revive can take away points as well from the opposing Team should she revive a teammate as opposed to them respawning normally. Making her a very valuable player on the team, and likely the first person to get marked in any given exchange.
With the new mode comes a new map, Chateau Guillard. The map itself is located near Annecy in southeastern France, and is Widowmaker’s family estate – before she joined into Talon’s unsavory ranks.
