Assassin’s Creed Origin: Director Talking About The Size

Obviously gamers are always curious about the size of upcoming games, especially since games have started employing huge open world gameplay. That said, most games seem to be getting progressively bigger, as if developers want to jam in as much of their imagination into the game as possible. With that in mind, it’s easy to understand why Ashraf Ismail addressed Assassin’s Creed Origins size to Game Informer.

In his interview he compared the upcoming title to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, stating that he is sure Ubisoft’s newest title is bigger than their previous game. However he doesn’t want people to get hung up on the size of the game, saying the following:

“If I compare it to previous games in the past, I don’t actually know the exact numbers [for Origins], but I would say that it’s at least twice the size of Havana from Black Flag….Having said that, I don’t think of the size of the city is what matters…It’s really the content, the experience that you have inside of it. It’s how alive it is. So we filled these locations with quests, with making each city feel unique to itself, why was it important to Egypt.”

While the experience is undoubtedly the most important part of the game, one who has played many of the Assassin’s Creed games might raise their eyebrow at this. As many of the games – at least in my own opinion – feel like more of the same gameplay. The only difference lying in the character I am using, or slight changes in the gameplay. So hopefully this new Assassin’s Creed will feel fresher, though I hold my reservations.

Here are some of the known facts about the upcoming game:

  • The Origins world is “pretty much” opened up completely right away – you just must finish the introductory sequence of the game. So feel free to explore right after.
  • Ismail will be keeping the storyline close to the companies chest for now, stating only that “I think people will be happy.”
  • Many customization options will be available – though exactly what I can customize remains unknown

Origins will arrive October 27th on the PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
