Nintendo Switch: Might be Getting Revamped Wii U Games

It’s pretty common knowledge that Nintendo’s market value got hurt in the last few years due to the poor performance of the Wii U. The system sold only 13.56 units, which compared to its predecessor – the Wii’s 100 million – was a paltry sum. That said, the Nintendo Switch seems to have put Nintendo back in the running with a strong start so far, and seemingly has Nintendo hopeful for a good future in their console.

With a seemingly bright future ahead, Nintendo’s executive Reggie Fils – Aime has said that fans should be expecting revamped versions of Wii U games. This is hardly surprising, as Wii U exclusives such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Pokken Tournament Deluxe were ported over recently to the Nintendo Switch. The games were came to the Nintendo Switch with more content and features, and it looks like Nintendo wants to continue the trend with a host of under appreciated games that they released for the Wii U and gamers never got the chance to experience.

In fact Fils-Aime had this to say about the upcoming ports: “Given the install base of Wii U, there was some fantastic content that consumers did not get to play…So that creates certainly a business opportunity. On the other hand, one of the things that we’ve discussed internally is, there really needs to be an additional element to that game to make it fresh, and to further compel the consumer to buy in.”

Admittedly it is hardly a surprising move on Nintendo’s part, as they seem to constantly bring back old games instead of investing in new ones. With a small game library in hand, currently the Nintendo Switch needs some help and thus some new blood – or I guess old blood – will be necessary. One possible port over for the Switch is the Super Smash Bros, though with a game that is so intense on joy sticks I am a bit hesitant to ruin a Nintendo Switch with such a game.

By March gamers can expect most major franchise games to come to the Switch according to Fils-Aime, and so all Switch owners have something to look forward to in the near future.
