New Need For Speed: Back To Being Offline
While Need for Speed has been around for years, features have been stripped from it that have made it a rather fun game for it’s fans. The game, in it’s last few iterations, has become an online adventure as oppose to the offline fun it use to be. Which was met with some disappointment by fans everywhere, as playing the game offline had been a staple of the game for years.
However, lo and behold, the gaming gods have listened and the upcoming version of Need for Speed – while keeping a majority of well known features – will return with the ability to play offline. Developers over at Ghost games confirmed it on their website clearly by stating “You will be able to play through a single player experience completely offline”. Though what exactly a single player experience will entail for gamers is still unknown, as details have been withheld. It’s especially confusing as Andrew Wilson, CEO of Need for Speed, had stated that online play would be paramount to the game previously.
That said, one can only hope for both a fun offline and online experience. As it is rather annoying to only be able to play a game online – and a good offline campaign is always a fun way to go through a game. Which the last two games in the franchise lacked, as they were both completely online games – no internet meant no play.
I’m sure we’ll find out more on the upcoming game as it will be released later this year. More information will become available around E3 in mid June. That said, I hope we can go back to fun offline play as my internet provider often proves to be a bit spotty.
