Battle Royale Shooter: PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
The competitor gamer in all of us likes one thing, and one thing only – winning. Whether that be by beating a story campaign or by crushing an opposing team in Overwatch, winning is what we all aim for. However without a doubt being the sole winner in an online game, after crushing your opponents, is the most satisfying feeling. That said, few games offer that as an option – as team play is very paramount in many popular games.
However PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds offers you the chance to be the last man, or woman, standing. That still wouldn’t be such an oddity, if it weren’t for the scale of the events this happens on – as it will be you against 99 other players.
That’s right guys, for this game that isn’t even fully complete yet – only available in “early access” on Steam – you will fight against 99 other players hoping to wipe you out. The premise of the game is simple enough, players will be dropped off on a deserted island at the beginning of the round – and play for keeps. You must find weapons, and survival tools, all across the island to ensure that you are the last player standing. With limited ammo, one life, and a player that can only stand up to a few hits, this proves to be both trying and stressful.
As a testament to the game’s current success, despite it being only in early access – and only on PC, the game has been rumored to have grossed over $60 million in profits so far. This is pretty amazing for a game that only costs $30 dollars currently.
In a bid of good news for those of us who are incapable of playing on our own PC’s, as mine sucks, the game will be making its way to both consoles in the future. Though the when of it is as of yet unknown, but better late than never.
Overall the game looks like a lot of fun, and the chance to claim that your the best at surviving against a horde of players across the map is to good to pass up. So I’ll keep praying that the game comes soon to console, as I’ll be one of the first at the shop to grab a copy.
