Ark Survival Evolved: Starts Paying Modders
An interesting endeavour is being launched by Studio Wildcard as of this month. It’s a program that is meant to encourage mod work, and continuous development within their world. That said, there will be 15 modders, every single month, that will receive $4000 dollars for their work.
According to Studio Wildcard, this is meant to encourage true development on the mods. Jeremy Stieglitz himself, the studios lead designer, stated that: “The hope is that with this kind of stipend, these authors, who really are hobbyists and have day jobs so they can’t really afford to spend as much time as they’d like on modding, that this will let them spend more time on modding, and ideally, hopefully, take some of these mods to completion.” In my opinion this is a really cool initiative, as it allows for people to be recognized for not only their work, but make some money on something they were doing for fun anyways.
The game will receive an update very soon that will introduce a new menu. This menu will give access to the 15 featured mods of that month, which will allow players to not only browse but also download. It’s a convenient feature that will allow the quickest access to the mods, and increase game enjoyment for everyone.
It’s a good day when people in the gaming community are recognized for their work. Good guy Studio Wildcard.
