GameStop Sold out Of Nintendo Switches
For those of you hoping to snag a Nintendo Switch over at GameStop, stop looking. I say that because, well, they’re all gone. The retailer dropped word on Sunday that all its pre-orders have been blown through of the newest Nintendo console.
For those of you in the United States, I might even tell you to stop looking all together. All major retailers have stated there are no Switch’s left on reserve – whether that be Amazon, Target, Toys R Us, Best Buy and the like – you`re just out of luck my dear gamer.
At least we know that GameStop is trying to rectify the issue, as they released a statement saying that they are “working closely with Nintendo to get additional Nintendo Switch units”. That said, Nintendo may hold firm and have us wait for more units to come with a slow release.
Knowing this – it’s even more painful to see eBay prices for the Nintendo Switch on confirmed pre-orders. Many of the people selling their reservation are doing so at $200 or more over the initial 299.99 MSRP asking price. The lowest price confirmed at $405.99, which is painful when you consider that you still have to purchase games and accessories for the console.
How Nintendo didn’t plan for this after the supply and demand issue with NES Classic Edition is beyond me gamers. That said – it might be a clever ploy to make us want the console even more, waiting for hints at the release of more consoles and jumping at the chance to snatch them off the shelves.
Who knows. All I know is I can’t wait to pick up a copy myself.
