Today, Bandai Namco finally unveiled the long awaited release date to the critically acclaimed fighting game franchise. We will all be able to get our grubby mits on Tekken 7 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on June 2, 2017.
Despite the promise to release by “Early 2017” the game has been slightly delayed to include everything from its latest arcade iteration Tekken 7: Fated Retribution and more.
Katsuhiro Harada , producer of the Tekken franchise through recent media interviews thought it best to slightly delay the game. In a quote from Mr. Harada through IGN he said the following:
“We were trying to do everything we could to make that date happen… maybe to scale down on the content in order to make the master release, but in the end we came to the decision that [after] seeing releases from other companies, as well as some of the past of our own, where maybe things weren’t working 100% at launch, or maybe it was missing some content, that’s the kind of thing we wanted to avoid with Tekken 7, so we made a very difficult decision of moving it to June to include all of the original content that we’d originally planned.”
Added into the main game will be a Tournament mode in which players can create up to an 8 player bracket tournament, as well as a fleshed out story mode. Everything seems to be falling in place and maybe just maybe we may be able to crown the King of the Iron Fist Tournament back on top in Fighting Games after a long absence to its former glory days on PS1.
Pre-Order incentive comes in the form of Eliza, female vampire femme fatale. Her first entry in the series was from Tekken free to play version on PS3 – Tekken Revolution.
Digital Pre-Orders through Xbox Live will include a free Copy of Tekken 6 through Xbox One backwards compatibility.
PS4 version of the game will have a Jukebox mode so that fans may listen to tracks from older titles in the series and even be able to create playlists of all your favorites to enjoy listening to while playing the game. Included on the ps4 version is some more exclusive content in the form of legacy costumes from Tekken 4 and Tekken 2 for King, Xiaoyu and Kin.
June 2nd the King of the Iron Fist Tournament will begin and all are welcome to join the fight!
