Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
System: PC, PS4, Xbox One
Release Date: January 24, 2017
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is the latest and greatest in the horror game franchise, developed by the producers over at Capcom industries. The game is set to release on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One – the PS4 release allowing for VR support with its headset. The upcoming game is the eleventh game in the franchise, and the first of which will be played from a first person perspective.
We start off as Ethan, the protagonist, and engage the world through his perspective. During the course of the game we are promised access to a variety of weapons, ranging from pistols, shotguns, flamethrowers, explosives and chainsaws to fight off our upcoming enemies. Though like many Resident Evil games, barring Resident Evil 6, developers have noted it will not be a “gun fest”.
That said, waste your ammo sparingly.
In fact many features will return to the game, from healing herbs, puzzle solving, and of course resource management – as taking on the undead has never been an easy task.
The game itself is set in 2017, set four years after Capcom’s last game, Resident Evil 6. It will take place in Dulvey, Louisiana, which is a fictional city in the Southern United States. The main character, Ethan Winters, is a new addition to the Resident Evil character roster, and unfortunately doesn’t add much in terms of combat skills due to his civilian nature. He is out in this god forsaken land due to one reason – the same as every other man in terrifying situations – he’s searching for his loved one, his wife Mia. Which leads him to what appears to be the main setting of the game, the derelict plantation mansion, home of what can only be the scariest family on earth: the “Baker Family”.
The game promises to be terrifying – so if you are to pick it up, bring someone with you for the ride, preferably less jumpy than yourself.
